Summer Sips with Mighty Leaf Tea
On a lazy summer day with warm breezes drifting through the trees, nothing can compare to lounging on a lawn chair with a tall glass of iced tea. With beads of condensation collecting on the glass, you savor every cool, refreshing sip. Mmm…
Back at the Love With Food test kitchen, we brewed several flavors of Mighty Leaf’s iced tea pouches to celebrate summer and share the scoop with you.
Many iced tea varieties are one-note and boring, but Mighty Leaf meticulously blends their teas to obtain an aromatic brew. All of the tea is whole-leaf, which is less processed and allows for a stronger flavor impact.
There are four flavors:
This south Indian organic black tea has been handpicked (now that’s dedication!). Dark amber-colored when brewed, this tea was refreshing on its own, and is ideal for adding your own ingredients like lemon wheels or fresh mint.
Sunburst Green Tea
Chinese green tea leaves with real bits of citrus peel (you can see it in the silken pouch). If you like Mighty Leaf’s Green Tea Tropical pouches, then you’ll definitely enjoy this crisp and smooth iced tea variety.
South Indian black tea leaves with an undertone of mango. The mango adds a brightness that almost makes you think the tea has been sweetened (but it hasn’t!).
This variety has a blend of Indian and Vietnamese black teas with bits of ginger pieces, and a light and juicy peach flavor. When brewed, the tea has a beautiful golden hue.
Eco-Friendly and Luxurious
Every Mighty Leaf tea pouch feels luxurious and silky. They’re so attractive, in fact, that you might feel bad throwing it away, until you find out that they are compostable. These beauties went straight to the compost bin!
Super Simple to Brew
Something this tasty usually takes a bit of elbow grease, but we were able to brew 64 ounces (or, a half gallon) in less than 10 minutes.
To brew our iced tea, we used the Ceylon pitcher from Bodum.
This pitcher holds 102 ounces, which is more than enough to make one iced tea pouch.
The Ceylon pitcher is also heat-safe, which means that you can pour the boiling water over the pouch while it’s in the pitcher.
First, boil 32 ounces (one quart) of water.
While we’re waiting for that to boil, we need to decide which tea we’ll brew first!
Calypson Mango, Sunburst Green Tea, Organic Black, or Ginger Peach?
We decided to brew the Ginger Peach first!
Place the tea pouch into your heat-proof pitcher.
Next, pour the boiling water over the tea pouch.
Steep for 4-5 minutes.
Once the tea pouch is done steeping, remove it.
If it steeps too long, your tea will take on a bitter taste.
To finish, you may add another quart of cool water and chill your tea.
If you’d like to enjoy right away, add ice!
Quench your thirst, and your senses, for 20% off!
Mighty Leaf is offering Love With Food fans a discount of 20% on their tea pouches. Yay!
